The sidecar has been dimantled and prepped for painting. Here are photos of the process that brings us to the "painting the interior" phase. Thank you to Steve Wakefield for some great work!

The BWAH fundraiser was very successful! Thank you to all who have contributed. The Sputnik sidecar just arrived in a crate. Here's Steve Wakefield, (one of our BWAH ol' timers and the one who will be painting the sidecar to match the Beemer and helping to install it), helping to uncrate it. Will send along pictures showing ongoing progress.
Shipment received. Next step: Match paint, sand, and start painting. Will keep all posted about progress. Thanks!

WE DID IT! WE REACHED OUR GOAL OF $2500 TODAY!!!!!
Again, a hearty BWAH THANK YOU to all who have contributed and supported this noble effort. Now to the next step. We'll be contacting Dauntless Motors shortly and placing an order for a Sputnik sidecar along with a subframe for the '92 BMW K75RT. I'll be passing over a panel from the bike to Steve Wakefield, who will be scanning it to get a paint match. Then, after receiving the sidecar, Steve has offered to paint it to match the motorcycle. After that's done, we'll arrange a weekend to rally some troops and put it together. I'll keep you all posted with timely developments and pictures as we go along. I'm looking forward to having the "G.A.R." ready for BWAH action in time for the launch of the 2007 season.

BWAH has relied on a dedicated group of volunteers and supporters. This includes area sidecar-rig owners when a wheelchair-bound child is a planned recipient. It has been our ambition to acquire a sidecar-rig of our own, enabling BWAH to consistently accommodate these children as the need arises. Recently, that dream has been brought one step closer to reality. A local benefactor and father of two handicapped boys, Hans Olsen from Kennebunk, donated his motorcycle, a 1992 BMW K75RT, to BWAH with the hope of marrying it to a sidecar for use in the “Rides For Cheer”.
A reputable company from Washington State, Dauntless Motors Inc., is offering a quality side-car, (and necessary subframe for the motorcycle), at a substantial discount to BWAH. The total cost of the sidecar, subframe and shipping, amounts to $2,500. (A motorcycle that is similar to Hans’ is pictured above with a Sputnik sidecar that we’re planning to purchase and install.)
We are launching a fundraiser with the goal of raising $2,500 to make this dream a reality. The rig will aptly be called the “Gunnar – Ansel Rig”, named after Hans’ two handicapped and lovable boys.
