Ideal DayThe July “Ride For Cheer” brought beautiful, crisp weather that was ideal for a ride to Biddeford to see Mindy. The ride over was enjoyable and flawless, particularly with Biddeford P.D. helping us navigate through the challenging intersection of “5 points”. Spreading CheerMindy greeted the enthusiastic group of “Bikers With A Heart”, accompanied by her family and friends. As is so often the case with the “Rides For Cheer”, the smiles and simple expressions of joy say so much! It was clear that she was very excited. Mindy suffers with a very rare genetic condition known as “4p-“, (which indicates a particular absence of a gene piece), which was only recently discovered and is also called Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome. She requires much care, and it is clear that the love of her devoted family has sustained her, (and she certainly gives a lot of love back!). Parade RideAs the group was getting ready for the all-important “parade ride” around the local neighborhood, Mindy decided at the last minute that she didn’t want to don a helmet. Efforts to convince her were generally fruitless. A moment later, Mindy’s attention was drawn to Dusty’s bike nearby, as Mindy’s grandmother was saddling the rear seat with a huge smile and helmet on. After seeing this, Mindy happily donned her own helmet and the “parade ride” proceeded along wonderfully! We’re certain that Mindy was left with precious memories, as “Bikers With A Heart” showed their support and love for her. ThanksOnce again, “hats off” to Gary Fecteau and the BWAH Road Captains for ensuring a smooth and safe ride to Biddeford. Also, we are grateful to Ashley and Bethany for presenting the “grab bag”, and to Dawn for nicely presenting the “Certificate of Proclamation” to Mindy. Great job! Looking forward to next month! Think of the kids!
