Anthony's Ride.

The second Sunday in July was another perfect day for the BWAH ride. Once again we headed for Waterboro and the Massabesic School parking lot to meet and honor our child. His name is Anthony and he is just 4 years old.

New Riders.

Some things remain the same each month, but there are always a few new faces as well as the familiar ones with whom we have shared many warm memories of past rides. It is a pleasure to meet and chat with people who are BWAH riders for the first time. Alan and Ashley stopped over to say "hello", and to tell me that although they had heard about our group and thought about joining us, this was their first BWAH trip. I also talked with a rider who; with camera duct taped in place, planned to attempt to tape a video of the ride. I regret that I did not get all the facts on his project, but I'll check with him next month and fill in the blanks. Please accept my apologies for not doing a more complete job. It certainly sounds interesting! It was an experience to view that long line of Bikers ahead of us, and the interest of the people we pass along the way. I often wonder what they are thinking...

Hats off to the Road Captains.

It was a fairly long ride. Although we had police assistance at the major intersections, the volunteer road captains did a super job. Their efforts help keep the rest of us safe.

Alamodarr Provided Entertainment.

Anthony, his brothers, parents and grandparents met us at the school parking lot. For a young lad, our Anthony has had a bumpy road to travel in his four years. He has had two bouts with cancer and lost an eye to that terrible illness. His mother tells me he is a laid back and very sensitive child, and we were able to perceive that from our interaction with him. I suspect that Anthony will need time to process and review what happened on Sunday. I believe he is a child who will enjoy replaying and talking about the event over time. Isn't it true that our memories of an event often match, or exceed the event itself? When Almodarr, who entertained Anthony with his magic tricks, offered Anthony a choice of two responses, his "Yeh" gave us all a chuckle.

A Promotion.

Josh Fecteau, who rode with Vas, presented the gift bag to Anthony. Lieutenant Gary Fecteau, (congratulations Gary for a well deserved promotion), and his wife and son were all decked out, appropriately enough, in black BWAH shirts this month. Rock, who is a first timer, presented and honored our BWAH child by reading his framed Certificate of Proclamation.

The Parade Ride.

The Parade Ride in the school area was well attended by bikers and family. Anthony and his mother rode with Gary in his sidecar. CJ, an older brother enjoyed his trip around the area with Steve Wakefield. Even Anthony's grandmother joined Dennis Whall for the ride at the last minute. I heard a comment from the family that she is an enthusiast and would love to have a motorcycle. Once again I saw the caring of BWAH folks when the little brother, Leo, started to complain that he wanted a ride and didn't get to participate. Gary remained and took him for a jaunt around the area in the sidecar. I'll bet the smile on his face made it worthwhile, Gary, and thank you for doing it.

The August Ride is Next.

The August ride is next. We will meet at the same place, in the Coastal Parking Lot at 3:00PM, on Sunday the 11th. We look forward to seeing all of you, old and new BWAH friends, there. Please come.

Think of the kids!
