No Raining on this Parade

This month’s “Ride for cheer” brought us to Sanford in the nick of time! The rain held out for most of the day, but as we made our way to meet little Christopher John the drops began to fall. The rain however, was quickly overshadowed by the smiles and cheers of Christopher John and his family as we pulled up to his aunt’s house.

CJ

Christopher John is a happy five year old boy who has had many challenges in his young life. Early in his life it was discovered that he suffered from a muscle disorder called hypertonia. This disorder makes it difficult for Christopher John to coordinate his movements; tasks like climbing stairs become very difficult. Later, Christopher John was diagnosed with ADHD and the combination of these diagnoses has been a challenge for Christopher John and his family.

CJ's Ride

From the moment the BWAH riders pulled up to the house, it was evident that Christopher John was not going to have any hesitation hopping onto a bike for a ride. The rain held off long enough for a quick parade ride around the neighborhood with Christopher John’s smiling grandpa also going along for a ride. The real joy for Christopher John came when he spent some time in the front seat of Gary Fecteau’s police car complete with all the buttons and noises.

More Cheer

The presentation of the gift basket and certificate really made this “Ride for Cheer” complete with smiles and cheers all around.

As always, thanks to all those who helped make this “rainy” Ride for cheer a safe one. See you next month and remember…”Think of the kids”
